Social Ministry
In Matthew 25:40, Christ tells his disciples, in regard to providing for those in need, that, “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me“. St. Timothy reaches out to those needing aid through its social ministries.
We shelter the homeless, in cooperation with the Volunteers of America. We also support other ministries in the Tidewater area, including the Job Bank, the Human Warmth Program, Church Social Ministries Resource Center, Lutheran Council of Tidewater, and the International Seaman’s House. In addition, our food program distributes about 16,000 pounds of food annually.
What is the Food Program?
As part of the social ministries, the food and clothing assistance program is a way we supply groceries or individuals on an intermediate, emergency, or temporary basis.

What Can We DO?
Continued support is needed all year. Donations of any usable food item (canned, dried, or frozen products) as well as funds are welcome. Good, clean, usable clothing, especially children’s size, are always needed. We use paper grocery bags, so save them and bring them in from time to time.
