New Starts

by Pastor @ St. Timothy ~ June 8th, 2009

Good morning to all,
It’s Monday morning and I’ve just returned from our church’s “Synod Assembly,” the particulars of which I will discuss in another post. I am, however, writing this morning as a direct result of being re-energized from this weekend to post on a weekly, if not daily basis. So this morning I told myself the first thing I would do this morning after turning on my computer is write a post – before I did anything else on it – before email, Facebook, calendar, anything. Now I am here and writing…, now if I can just make these posts worthwhile.

Perhaps one thing I could do in Monday’s post is look ahead at the week to come (pretend I actually had some plan) of possible blog topics. For example this week I hope to address several things that are on my mind like, what we did or did not do at the Assembly, my thoughts on ministry to Young Adults, how we (individually and corporately) can be more “active” in our welcoming and inviting, and a few thoughts about relationships within a congregation with “former pastors.” Hopefully, if any of you find these topics of interest – or at least my thoughts on them – you’ll return for another look. Besides, writing them down this morning will help me remember them through out the week.

Regarding the length of a post, I must admit that I am learning “blogology,” and so I will have to experiment with this. My initial thoughts are that shorter is better – we’re all busy people in one way or another, and I know you don’t have extended periods of time to read and reflect on one pastor’s ramblings.

Therefore I will close for now – a new start – much like the new start Jesus gives us each and every day – let the church say, “Amen.”
