An Opportunity to Explore Getting Grant Money
by Pastor @ St. Timothy ~ February 27th, 2009
Recently I became aware of the idea that congregations, especially ones like ours, who have a strong emphasis on social outreach, may be able to get Federal grant money to support our ministry(ies). The following information is about a “Webinar” that Alban Institute will be offering, Thursday, March 19, at 1:00 PM. (I know that doesn’t work for some folks, but it might for others.)
Anyway, I’d be interested in hearing from anyone who might find this of interest and/or have the desire to follow up on it. As always, if you have questions, please let me know.

Description: More and more congregations and non-profits are exploring grant funding as a possible source of support particularly for ministries and programs focused on community outreach.
Many who attended Joy Skjegstad’s extremely well-received Alban Webinar, “Winning Grants to Strengthen Your Ministry,” have asked for a hands-on sequel that details the step-by-step process of writing a grant proposal for your church, synagogue, or non-profit.
Here it is! A brand new webinar that covers the specific steps involved in writing a grant proposal to be submitted to foundation and corporate funders.
Whether or not you have participated in a previous webinar with Joy, in this entirely new program you will learn:
# The elements of the Common Grant Application used by many funders–a walk through a sample proposal.
# How to make a case for the strengths of your program or ministry and how to describe your results in a compelling way.
# Strategies for describing your “niche:” positioning your ministry, program, or non-profit organization as unique as compared to other grantseekers.
# How to talk with a funder over-the-phone or in person.
# “Do’s” and “don’t’s” in writing your proposal.
Join this engaging one-hour session to walk through a sample grant proposal for a ministry or non-profit organization, examining the expectations of funders and the key strategies to use in describing your program and submitting a winning grant proposal.
PLEASE NOTE: The event fee covers one computer connection, and the event is designed for leaders to sit together to view it. Please do not share your log-in information with anyone else.
