I have no way of knowing how many of you knew that there was a couple at worship this past Sunday who were longtime friends of Gail and mine. But when we went to dinner with them on Monday night I was so absolutely delighted to hear their glowing remarks about how warm and friendly they thought we were. They said that they felt very welcome.

This kind of reception to a stranger only happens when each of us as individuals WANTS to show that kind of hospitality to those God sends through our doors. It is an ACTIVE function; not a passive one. So I thank those of you who were responsible for greeting and talking with Sharon and Jack. They appreciated it and so do I. Let me also encourage others, who perhaps haven’t thought about it in this light, that EVERYONE at St. Timothy can be on the look out for “the stranger” in our midst. Besides, you never know when you may be entertaining an angel…, or maybe even Jesus.
